Creative Commons Resources

Cinemasports discourages unauthorized use of copyrighted / trademarked material such as unauthorized music soundtracks. We want others to see your work, but we have a strict takedown policy. We must discontinue showing work if we are alerted to the use of unauthorized intellectual property. On the movie submission form, we ask filmmakers to certify they have cleared all intellectual property rights. We encourage you to explore ways to create work that we can continue to share into the future.

We suggest that you follow these rules:

  • Avoid unlawful use of music soundtracks and other movie elements.
  • Avoid using trademarked brands and labels in your movies.

Find Legal Music Sources
Finding legal music sources is easy. We suggest music licensed under Creative Commons Attribution or Public Domain. These are two of the least restrictive Creative Commons licenses. (There are several Creative Commons licenses)

If music has a simple Attribution Creative Commons license, just include information about the music in your movie credits, and you can use that music legally. Public Domain music doesn't event require a credit. Anyone can use the music in any way they wish.

We suggest that you browse and download music with these licenses, so you have soundtrack options in mind before a Cinemasports event. You can browse these sites for suitable music:
